Custom of the Week: Groot and Rocket

Happy Sunday, Aledan Merfolk! It’s been a few weeks since we’ve had a custom of the week, but I saw today’s customs and just adored them. Well, I adored Groot :) I wasn’t a big fan of Guardians of the Galaxy as a whole (*gasp* I know!), but I was a huge fan of Groot. How could you not be? I also thought it was clever the way the customizer made the two of them (yes, even Rocket is a pony – a McD’s pony!)

I love the detail on the wood, and Rocket’s tiny jumpsuit! You can see close-ups and a couple production photos by clicking on the picture.

Custom of the Week: Alice in Wonderland

Happy Monday, Aledan Merfolk! I hope you had an excellent holiday weekend. The fireworks terrified the dogs as always, but the chickens didn’t seem to mind the noise. They ran around the whole weekend like tiny Mad Hatters at their own personal, insane tea party. Which is why this week’s custom pony is inspired by Alice in Wonderland!

The details on the clock-eye are amazing. Definitely click through the picture to see the close-up of the eye.

Custom of the Week: Mad Max, Fury Road Ponies

Happy Sunday, Aledan Merfolk! If you’ve seen my post Becka’s Big Adventure, I’m sure you know by now that I’m a huge fan of the new Mad Max movie (I named my new chickens Mad Maxina and Imperator Furiosa, and when we get the third, she’ll be Immortan Josephine), so when several people sent me links to today’s ponies, I fell in love!

Custom of the Week: Baby Sapphire Shores

Happy Monday, Aledan Merfolk! We’ve seen a lot of ocean-themed custom ponies lately because I’ve been editing my mermaid novel, Speak the Ocean, and today’s custom pony is no different. She’s an adorable newborn seapony, with amazing details around her eyes and crazy hair that I love. I usually love ponies with brushable hair, but her wild curls are just too cute to handle, don’t you think?

Not only was the baby sculpted by hand with resin, but so was the stand!

Custom of the Week: Nerida the Water Lilly Merpony

Happy Monday, Aledan Merfolk! We’re officially in the warm summer months here on the SC coast, so you can expect CotW to show up on Mondays when I’m busy at the pool or beach (and by “busy” I mean “doing nothing at all”). We’re still on the merpony kick around here because a) merponies are the best, and b) do you need a b? Fine: b) I’m still in the editing trenches of StO, so I’m surrounding myself with mer-anythings to keep my spirits up ;) Bring on the mer-things! Mer-rabbits! Mer-puppies! Mer-cows! (Oh, wait, those are called manatees…)

Custom of the Week: Aquamira the Merpony

Happy Sunday, Aledan Merfolk! I’m sure it’s no surprise by now that I’m a big fan of mermaids (the name of the blog is Mermaids and Margaritas, after all), and in an effort to get myself back to working on Speak the Ocean regularly after life threw me a bunch of jellyfish (the ocean’s equivalent of lemons), we’re going to have a couple weeks of merponies on the blog! First up is this lovely blue hippocampus, Aquamira:

I love how sassy she looks! And the re-posed front feet are awesome.

Custom of the Week: Melusine the (sort of) Merpony

Happy Sunday, Aledan Merfolk! I’m sure it’s no secret at this point that my favorite custom ponies are ocean-themed, so when I saw today’s custom with her absolutely stunning mer-dress I just knew I had to feature her. As the customizer says, Melusine is “a beautiful woman who turns into a two-tailed mermaid in secret. Once her husband discovers what she is, she turns into a dragon and flies away.” Instead of making her a full merpony, Iris gave her a dragon design and hand-stitched a two-tailed merpony dress that she can wear to “change” into a merpony. What a clever way to show this fairytale as a custom pony!
