Hops Enzor
April 1, 2008 – May 1, 2021
“Movie Star Eyes” – that’s what the tag on the kennel said when we walked in and saw you for the first time. “We can’t get the first dog we see” we said, even though we already knew you were the one. “I don’t want a pitt bull mix,” dad said. “I don’t want a lab,” I said. It turned out you were neither – American Staffordshire Terrier/Boxer, with a little bit of ridgeback mixed in. Seventy pounds of rock solid muscle and love just looking for someone to give it to.
For twelve and a half years you gave us that inexhaustible love. You loved your mom and dad, your brother, Boudin, your kitties (even Pike who didn’t love you back), your chickens, and even a baby squirrel. You gave your love and your blood to save another dog’s life. You got loose once and ran to a little girl, let her grab your ears and scream in your face, and gave her love and kisses until she was laughing so hard she couldn’t stand.
Car rides were your favorite, and you rode across the United States for five days, from one ocean to the other. You crossed The Bridge Of The Gods. You loved adventure, and taking the little paths that forked off from the big ones.
You loved helping dad cook, and you were smart enough to know “tomorrow” and “later”. You thought you were a person, and I think in the ways that count you were.
Hops-Scops the Plops Mops Tops a Lops, you were the best girly a person could ask for, and you will be missed by everyone.
On to the next adventure! We’ll see you again <3
Becka, thank you for creating and sharing that heartfelt tribute to an amazing pup. Farewell dear Hops and thank you for all of the memories ❤️
