Last year for our one year anniversary, my husband took me on a surprise trip to Oregon’s coast. It was amazing, and it was almost exactly as I had pictured the countryside surrounding Fie Eoin. It gave me a clearer picture of what the mountains would look like, and especially what the coast would look like. As I mentioned in Sticky #5, I wasn’t really sure what the coastal community of Gaerlom would look like when I started writing, because I had no reference of coastal communities. Living in Charleston gave me an idea of tides and how much the water can change in one day, but visiting Oregon gave me an idea of how the coast of Gaerlom would look. It would be rockier, with cliffs and mountains edging in, and not the long forever-flat sand beaches that I am used to. I wrote this sticky in Oregon so I wouldn’t forget what the coastline of Gaerlom would look like.
