21. Do any of your characters have children? How well do you write them?
Many of my characters have children (if not in their current book, then in the future) and I’m pretty good at writing children, but the only book I currently have written with a small child is Lane’s Girl. Lane’s daughter, Mikayla, is seven in the book. She likes to play with dolls, she has an overactive imagination, and she hates the woman that Lane starts seeing after her mother dies. Mikayla doesn’t want a new mommy. She’s very easy for me to write (does that mean I’m immature?) and even once she grows up she’s a lovely character. Probably my nicest, easiest to get along with character, in fact. Everyone loves Mikayla, and she loves them all back. Perhaps it’s just that I knew her when she was a child, and I can’t imagine that little girl ever growing up to be mean to anyone.
Since you can’t yet read about Mikayla, you can read about two little seven-year-olds at my website in the story Little Twins. In case you haven’t guessed, it’s about Kindra and Kaye.
