Back to Fie Eoin this week. I recently bought a book called A Short History of Myth by Karen Armstrong. It breaks down myth archetypes by the type of society that people live in, starting from hunter/gatherers and moving all the way through current day myths. For a quick look at the archetypes, it has helped a lot with the mythology of Fie Eoin. It also started me thinking much more about the mythology of the other tribes in the book, like Gaerlom. Although I have already thought of some parts of their creation story, and already wrote their “Legend of the Faye”, once I seriously sat down and thought about their mythology (rather than just the parts that served my story) there was a lot to discover about it, and that in turn lead to deeper, more intriguing characters.
