The best laid plans of mice and men…

I know I was only supposed to be gone for a week, and I did plan on putting up a sticky and another chapter of Lane’s Girl this past weekend, but you know what they say about plans.  And my plans especially.  You see, I was going camping last week with my husband and Hops (you remember her, right? She did horrible things to my plans a year and a half ago).  I was going to have hours upon hours to write and edit and storyline, but it decided to rain all week long.  So much so that we couldn’t go camping.  So we decided to do something that we’ve been debating for a while now, and we got a new distraction.

Meet Boudin:

Boudin is a 9 week old lab/something-brindled mix.  He’s not potty trained yet, which isn’t such a problem in and of itself, but he also had a UTI when we brought him home, which meant that he had to pee every 10 mins.  EVERY 10 MINS.  I had to watch him with hawk eyes – especially when he learned to climb onto the couch.

Needless to say I didn’t get much writing done, and I didn’t get much editing done, and I didn’t get much of anything done.  But I did get to enjoy the pure happiness that is owning a brand new puppy, and I did get to lay aside my plans and just go with the flow of vacation.  And you know what?  I came back from that week rested and revived and ready to write and edit.  Sometimes you just have to let your plans go awry.
